Konrad Kager

THE POWER OF SURPRISE

The exhibition platform, “Starting from Hystyria” in Raum D downstairs at the Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst & Medien, has been showing different and diverse positions of contemporary art from the expanded Styrian region since late 2013. Each show in the series is accompanied by a fanzine. Now, the series continues in 2105 with “THE POWER OF SURPRISE”, a presentation of the artist Konrad Kager.

"The practice of the artist Konrad Kager appears to be characterised by productive impetuosity and great scepticism. This indeed brings it much closer to a tenet held by the US artist Paul Thek, namely that it is the very duty of an artist to constantly dismiss art, rather than playing into the hands of the “to-do-list terrorism” of a global creative-entertainment bureaucracy that is increasingly perceived as dominant." Christian Egger
