Concert, Closing event

On the occasion of the closing of the exhibitions “Image Wars. The Power of Images” and “Gerlind Zeilner. Cowgirls” the band “Mäuse” will invite us into their cosmos of experimental sounds. After the concert, cartoonist, author, and musician Tex Rubinowitz will present his musical selection on the turn tables. We are looking forward to a festive finale of both exhibitions!

The band “Mäuse” was founded in 1994 by Gerhard Potuznik and Tex Rubinowith. They disbanded in 1999 after three albums, just to re-form again ten years later. Playing live, they are supported by Didi Kern (drums) and Philipp Quehenberger (keys).

Didi Kern is the drummer of Austria’s most well-known noise-rock bands Bulbul and Fuckhead and is also a band member of Austrian pop singer Gustav. Kern has already performed and recorded with Avantgarde-Jazz-masters like Peter Brötzmann, Ken Vandermark, Matz Gustafsson and Walter Weasel (The Flying Luttenbachers).

Gerhard Potuznik is a musician and music producer and has released music under a number of pseudonyms, with GD Luxxe being the most famous. He is/was member of numerous bands and projects, such as “Cube & Sphere,” “Gropu Niob,” or “iO.” Together with Tex Rubinowith he runs the independent music label Angelika Köhlermann.

Philipp Quehenberger has released numerous solo-albums on the legendary avantgarde-electronica label “Editions Mego” and on the Viennese underground-techno labels “Cheap” and “Minimal Soul.” Quehenberger is a musical explorer of the genres between electronic music and free improvisation.

Tex Rubinowitz (*1961 Hannover, lives in Vienna) is cartoonist, painter, author, actor, and musician. He publishes his cartoons regularly in newspapers like Die Zeit, Falter, Der Standard, and Titanic. As an actor he has already worked with Richard Linklater, Oliver Hirschbiegel, Kurt Palm, and Hermes Phettberg. Rubinowitz is also the singer of the band “Mäuse,” with which he has released a number of albums.
