Lecture Marathon on the Topic: What is Art

During the lecture marathon particular issues are topicalized, which Marko Pogačnik considers important when it comes to the development of art in future. The marathon lasts for four hours. Each topic is discussed for 45 minutes, followed by a fifteen-minute break and the introduction of the next topic. During the breaks, the audience can leave or join in.

Marko Pogačnik, born in 1944, is a Slovenia-based artist and author. From 1965 to 1971 he was an active member of the artistic movement OHO, realizing concept- and land art. In 1971, together with his family and friends, he founded a life and art community called the „Šempas Family“ in Šempas, Slovenia, which existed until about 1979. He claims to have developed a method of earth healing in line with cosmograms. Currently, he is primarily committed to the transition that earth and individuals are experiencing in a context of planetary “geoculture“.
