Under the title "4 seasons" and in the piece of the same name seen in the exhibition wow! Woven? Entering the (sub)Textiles, the young artist Anna-Sophie Berger positions her work with different materials, along with their aesthetic and functional implications—such as the shifting of environments and living conditions that change every day or contexts that alter—all the way to fashion or art. Here, the artist focuses in particular on the idiosyncrasies of material and production, as well as the context from whence the objects stem and are distributed. Her fields of practice are nurtured by explorations of the boundaries between the disciplines and looking behind today’s digital surfaces.
Born in Vienna, the artist lives there now. She studied fashion design and trans-disciplinary art at the Universität für angewandte Kunst in Vienna. Recently, the artist’s work was seen in solo shows at Frieze NY, the exhibition space Ludlow 38, at JTT (also in New York City), and at Mauve, 21er Haus, and wellwellwell in Vienna. In addition "4 seasons" was recently integrated into a musical theater project, Hotel Moon, at the New Theater in Berlin.
