Marius Watz (Oslo/Berlin) is a well-known representative of the realm of generative art, who has curated such crucial exhibition on this current art trend like “Generator. x” (2004) at the National Museum in Oslo and “Further Processing” (2006) at Kunstverein Medienturm. The piece KUGELSTUDIE (“Sphere Study”) is a formal study of a spherical space, which follows the traditional sphere study of Bauhaus. Not to be understood as a traditional animation, it is rather an exploration of possibilities to fill a sphere with arcs that cut and define space. The results that remind of Sol LeWitt’s conceptual organic structures are graphic and bold, complex though based on a simple rule.
