Pranks of the Performative

Gin Müller, Lecture
© Gin Müller

The last lecture by Gin Müller being part of the auxiliary program of the exhibition "Yes, but is it performable? Investigations on the Performative Paradox" starts out from Müller's publication "Pranks of the performative" and its post-structuralist, post-dramatic and feminist discourse, giving an overview and introduction into current political forms of action. One key question will be which forms of radical democratic acting and performative subversive agitation still are practicable in a strongly mediatized society.

Currently Gin Müller works as external lecturer at the school of Theater, Film and Media Studies at the University Vienna as well as at the Institute for Cultural Management at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Further, Müller works on artistic works of theatre and performance at brut, Vienna, and in Mexico among others: “Trans Gender Moves“ (2014/15), “Who shot the Princess?“ (2010/11), “Melodrom“ (2012/13), “Rebelodrom – NoborderZone“ (2013), “Volxtheaterkarawane“ (2001/-04), Performance band "SV Damenkraft“ (2004/08). Müller was active at the “Refugee Protest Vienna“ (2012/13) and since 2014, is involved in “Queer Base“, "LGBTIQ-Welcome“ and "Support Project der Rosa Lila Villa“.
